The song "Rocket Girl", performed by the Mayflower Primary School, Dovercourt, Essex, UK

Our performance is dedicated to the memory of Declan Heath, who passed away aged ten in 2004. The song 'Rocket Girl' was originally recorded by the Cornish Band 'The Wiredaisies' and the version recorded by The Mayflower School was sung by Declan's classmate Laura Green.

We chose the song because it tells about reaching out for someone who is beyond reach, someone we have lost but about whom we still say there is 'something about you'.

The children at the school composed a dance to accompany the song, ten children sing on the recording, some contribute percussion and one, Callum Lawrie, plays guitar. The other musicians were the schoolteachers, a parent and a friend. The recording was made at early Bird Studios.

Rocket Girl was written by Oliver Beach, Elden James Evans, Steve Jackson and Treana Morris. Thanks are due to EMI Publishing Ltd and 'The Wiredaisies'. The video was made at Mayflower School by Kirk Rogers of Showbeam Digital Media. Web page courtesy of Oxyka.
